Tickets on Sale Now!

April 20, 2010

Hansel & Gretel promises to be an evening of theatre unlike any you’ve ever experienced.  For starters, the show marks the first ever public performance in Hanover High School’s black box theatre—an intimate 90 seat performance space that features a thrust stage and a forest of PVC trees.

Because of limited seating, the play will run for a total of 7 shows (April 27-May 2), including a special school day matinee catering to local day cares on Thursday, April 29.

Hanover’s Hansel & Gretel is also unique as a work of devised theatre that evolved almost entirely during the rehearsal process through the creative collaboration of the actors. This is truly a work of art that takes to heart the famous maxim: “A play is play.”

Hansel & Gretel is also an original musical, featuring a beautiful collection of songs composed, arranged, and performed by the students of Hanover High School.

With nearly a dozen Hansels and Gretels, a coven of witches, and five different narrators, who each have a different take on the story, Hansel & Gretel promises to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Special Note to Day Care Providers and Parents of Small Children:

We will be presenting a special performance catering to local day cares.  The performance will run from 2 to 3pm on Thursday,  April 29.  Tickets are $5.  Seating is limited.  Contact Daniel Hefko at dhefko@hcps.us with any questions.
