And the Winners Are. . .

Congratulations to all of the contestants in Friday’s Hanover’s Got Talent competition.  The judges awarded honorable mentions to Sam Holland & Alyssa Wright for their original song “On with the Show” and to Charlotte Howell and Drew Houck for their Saxaphone duet.   Third prize went to Austin Riley for his rendition of Shine Down’s “If You Only Knew.”  Jake Littlepage won second place with his performance of the Hawaian art of fire throwing, and Chet Bland took home first place for pickin’ and grinnin’ his way through Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.”  Thank you to all of this year’s contestants for proving once again that Hanover’s Got Talent!

Thank you to this year’s judges, the Hanover All-Stars, our parent volunteers, the HHS administration, our backstage help, our emcees, and our light board operator for working to make this year’s competition a success.  Start working on your acts for next year!

Spring Play Auditions Are Here

Students may sign up for an audition on one of three nights this week: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 3:45 and 5:30.  A sign up sheet can be found on the Call Board outside the Theatre Arts room.

Audition forms and informational sheets can be found on the call board as well.

If you have questions, conflicts, or concerns, see Mr. Hefko.

A meeting for students interested in being a part of the creative team will take place Tuesday, February 26, after school.  Depending on student schedules and interest, an additional meeting may be scheduled one night this week after auditions.

VHSL Cast List

The 2013 VHSL Theatre Competition will take place on Wednesday, January 30^th starting at 2 p.m. at Glen Allen High School.  The event is open to the public.  Teams and audience members are asked not to arrive prior to 1:45 PM.

A Message from Student-director Matthew Prousalis:

Thank you to everyone who auditioned for the VHSL one act. You are all wonderfully talented and will continue to do great things for the theatre department. Please know that this cast list was extremely hard to decide, and I chose based on who I thought was best for each role, not out of favoritism. The cast list is as followed:

VHSL Date Update

The latest word is that the VHSL theatre competiton (tentatively scheduled for January 31 at Glen Allen) may likely be moved up to Wednesday, January 30th.  I’m told a decision should be made in the next few days.  The date will be posted here once a final decision has been announced.

Holiday Party / Special ITS Meeting

ITS will hold a special meeting on Thursday, December 13 at 3:45 to hear student director proposals for the VHSL theatre competition to be held (tentatively) on Thursday, January 31st at Glen Allen High School.  

Immediately following the special meeting, ITS will hold a Holiday celebration in the theatre arts classroom (5:30-7:00 p.m.) for all students involved in the theatre program (classes and productions).

 

2013 VHSL Theatre Competition

The 2013 VHSL Theatre Competition has been tentatively scheduled for Thursday, January 31st at Glen Allen High School.

The HHS entry will be selected by members in good standing of the HHS International Thespian Society (ITS) and will be directed by a senior member of that organization.  Auditions will be open to all students.

Students interested in becoming members of ITS may find out more about eligibility by visiting this site.  New members are inducted in the spring of each school year.

There will be an ITS meeting today after school (make-up meeting Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.) to discuss the selection process for the VHSL competition piece.  At that time we will decide on a special meeting to be held next week for proposal of performance pieces and voting.
